If you're wondering whether a personalised storybook is actually worth the price — you're not alone. We read through every review we've received from parents across India, UAE, and Canada. Not to cherry-pick the nice ones. Because after a while, patterns start to show up.
Here's what people actually said.
The face thing was the biggest deal
Almost everyone mentioned the likeness. Not just "it looked good" but something more specific: it looked real.
Chaitra Deepak put it this way: "It didn't look out of place or awkward, it looked like the illustrations were made for them."
Ashwini Shenoy had done her research before ordering: "I checked several other sites for this kind of customisation. But the image appeared quite real when I checked Diffrun. When I received it, the quality was amazing."
This keeps coming up because it's the actual anxiety people have before ordering. Will my child's face look weird in an illustration? The reviews consistently say no.
The reactions nobody expected
A few reviews described the moment of opening the book in a way that's hard to summarise.
Sadhana Gaikar ordered for her granddaughter Myra: "Not just she, but our whole family got emotional after seeing the book."
Manmohan wrote about his son Arohan: "Seeing his own face on the cover made it instantly magical. A personalised book like this doesn't just get read, it becomes a treasured keepsake."
And then there's Feroz. His dad Ashok wrote: "Our 7 year old was THRILLED on opening the package and can't get over having become a sports superstar. He is showing it to everyone he meets."
That last one gets us every time. A seven year old, showing his book to everyone he meets.
One review was written by the child
Ajeetha Ilayarajan's review starts with: "Hi, I am Monish. This book is a gift from my Mother."
Monish then explains that the space adventure book makes him feel like he is really on a spaceship.
We don't have much to add to that.
Grandparents kept showing up
Look at who's buying and a pattern becomes obvious. Geeta Wagh bought The Little Hero for her granddaughter. Saraswathy bought for her grandson. Asha Bhan for her granddaughter who was about to turn two. Sheena Saji couriered one all the way to Canada for an 18 month old.
Geeta was the most honest about the cost: "The price tag is expensive, but totally worth it."
That line is doing a lot of work. It acknowledges the hesitation and answers it in the same breath.
People noticed the small things
Ambica Sood ordered for her daughter who was about to turn three. After the book arrived, she noticed something: "In the back there are advertisements for other books in the series, and even those have my kid's picture. I really appreciate the detailing into it."
That's a back cover. Most people wouldn't mention it. She did.
The preview removed the doubt
Two things came up repeatedly as trust-builders before people hit buy.
Chaitra mentioned it first: "I loved that I could preview the first few pages before purchasing, which gave me full confidence in the final product."
Tejal said the same, and added something useful: "They give you a free preview and you can repolish the pics after payment."
If you haven't tried the free preview yet, this is probably the most useful thing in this entire post. You don't need to commit to anything. Upload a photo, pick a book, and see exactly how it looks with your child's face in it.
Some people ordered a second one before they'd finished reading the reviews
Pavan Kumar ordered the space book for his son. He wrote: "Impressed by the quality and idea, I immediately placed an order for the alphabet book for my younger child as well."
Sravani's son loved the space adventure so much he asked for the sports book next.
Tejal has ordered two.
The one-line reviews are sometimes the loudest
Neetu Varghese: "Overall 10/10, glad I ordered it."
Sadhana Gaikar gave it a 10/10 and said the whole family got emotional.
M. Talha Shariq from Dubai: "My kids absolutely loved it. They are completely obsessed."
Jossy Coleman from the US: "I am in love with all the photos."
There's a kind of review that doesn't try to explain why it was good. It just says it was good, very loudly. These are some of those.
What all of this adds up to
137 families across India, the UAE, Canada, and the US. Different books, different children, different occasions. But the same few things kept coming up: the likeness looks real, the whole family reacts, and kids want it read again the next night.
The best summary probably comes from Jeyakumar, who wrote: "The quality of the book, the ease of making it, and the speed at which it was delivered was all unbeatable."
If you've been on the fence, the free preview is the easiest way to get off it.
